Wednesday Deadline for Addams Family Sign Up

Time is running out for local teens to register for Rubber Chicken Theatre’s autumn show, The Addams Family.

Applications for the madcap macabre musical close on Wednesday 31 August and are open to all those in S1-S6, with no need to audition to take part.

Artistic Director Pamela Mackie said: “This year’s Show in a Week Senior is sure to get everyone in the mood for Halloween.

“Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, is all grown up and has a shocking secret that only her father Gomez knows. She’s fallen in love with a sweet young man from a respectable family.

“With a host of comic characters, from Uncle Fester to Pugsley, it’s one of those shows that’s as much fun to be in as to watch.”

Auditions for principal parts will take place in September and rehearsals will take place during the second week of the school October break, with three consecutive evening performances at the Macrobert Arts Centre from 20-22 October.

Pamela added: “If performance isn’t your thing, we also have a small number of back-stage crew spaces for teens looking to learn about the technical side of theatre.”

The cost to participate in the show is £120 and tickets go on sale on from the Macrobert box office on Thursday 1 September at 10am.

Teens with a keen interest in musical theatre can continue their theatrical training with Rubber Chicken’s newly launched SQA National Progression Award in Musical Theatre.

Pamela explained: “We’re delighted to have been recognised as a SQA Approved Centre.

“The NPA is suitable for those in S2 and above and is designed to develop a range of skills from voice and movement, to acting and audition skills through a series of weekly classes and workshops over the next 9 months.

“Students who successfully complete the course will gain a National Progression Award, which sits on the SCQF at Level 6.”
